Synthesis 3  by Stefan Fierros

Our ‘Artwork of the Week’ this week is an abstract piece consisting of four canvas panels framed together in a quality Floating frame with a deep black finish. The artwork measures 28.5 x 64 cm in total, with each panel measuring 14.5 x 20.5 cm. The deep 5.4 cm edge of the frame adds depth and dimensionality to the piece, making it a striking addition to any room.

The artwork is an original creation, made using spontaneous, continuous flowing lines which move across the panels intersecting and forming shapes. The shapes are then filled with a combination of blended earth tones and pastel colours, creating a sense of movement and energy in the piece.

The use of the Floating frame gives the artwork a contemporary and modern feel, while the deep black finish adds a touch of elegance and sophistication. The overall effect is a balanced and harmonious composition that is visually engaging and intellectually stimulating.

The artwork is signed on the back and is ready to hang, making it easy to display and enjoy. This piece would make a wonderful addition to any collection, whether you are a seasoned art collector or a first-time buyer looking to start your own collection.

Overall, this abstract artwork is a stunning example of contemporary art, showcasing the beauty of spontaneous, flowing lines and the harmony of blended earth tones and pastel colours. The quality Floating frame adds a touch of sophistication to the piece, making it a must-have for any modern art enthusiast.

What inspired you to create this artwork? Was there a specific idea or emotion that you were trying to convey?

I wished to create a new geometric work which would be the direct result of drawing spontaneous lines which would intersect at different points and create divisions which turn into different geometric shapes and forms and flow across the canvas.

How did you decide on the composition and colour palette for this piece? Did you have a specific vision in mind, or did the artwork evolve organically as you worked on it?

The composition was guided by the flowing lines, making sure there was balance and harmony, it was overall a very spontaneous process.

Can you describe your creative process for this piece? Did you start with a sketch or plan, or did you dive right in with the flowing lines and shapes?

I often use both methods , creating a sketch or letting it just ‘happen’ , in this artwork it was spontaneous with some minor adjustments to the lines and composition.

What techniques did you use to create the blended earth tones and pastel colours in this artwork? Did you use any specific materials or tools to achieve the desired effect?

The process required creating multiple layers , applying a layer and blending different colours one layer at a time until the desired effect was achieved and with the emphasis on using contrasting colours against each other.

How does the use of the Floating frame contribute to the overall effect of the artwork? Was this a deliberate choice on your part, or was it suggested by someone else?

Once I finished the artwork I knew it needed a black frame to hold the different panels together.
