Questions to the artist about the artwork

What inspired you to create this particular countryside floral landscape? Is there a specific place or memory that influenced the composition?

As with most of my paintings, the scene is completely painted from my imagination.  However, being a lover or nature, country walks and gardening, all that I observe is absorbed – and this spills into my paintings

The inclusion of the bee approaching the cornflower adds a wonderful touch of movement to the scene. What significance does the bee hold in this artwork, and how did you decide to include it in the composition?

Initially the bee was not included in the composition.  But I felt the scene lacked movement and focus – so the addition of the bee, did remedy that.

The use of acrylic and oil paints creates a stunning visual effect in the artwork. Could you share your thought process behind choosing these particular mediums for this piece?

I prefer to use acrylic as a background medium, as it is easily diluted and the colours can be less intense, which is what I prefer.  I use oil paints for the foreground as they are often more vibrant, which for me is a good contrast against the more subdued tones in the distance.

As an artist, what emotions or messages do you hope viewers will take away from “Glorious Floral Landscape” when they experience it?

The aim with all my floral landscape. is to take the viewer to a place of wonder and serenity.  Immersed in nature from wherever it is viewed, the viewer can be taken to a peaceful place.
