Veronica Ciccarese

Artist quote: ‘Art contains pain and my repressed emotions. She activates my senses and releases my emotions. It gives me what I’m missing and reveals who I really am. Painting for me is like breathing.’

Veronica Ciccarese was born in 1972 in Mesagne, Italy. From childhood she showed a keen interest in painting and drawing.

She enrolled at the Academy of Fine Arts in Lecce but did not finish her studies. However she did continue to paint. She continued her passion with self-taught studies and also enrolled in artistic workshops.  Following the advice and lessons from artists Angioletta de Nitto, Maestro Igli Arapi and the Jara Marzulli. Veronica found herself attending courses and workshops in their artistic studios.

The core of Veronica’s inspiration is women. With many of her exquisite paintings paying homage to them.  Often serene portraits of beautiful women, delicately painted and emotionally intense.

Her works are in oil paint, often on a uniform coloured acrylic background on linen canvas. Veronica says her painting is like breathing; ‘A necessity of life! The core of my inspiration is women. Mysterious, sweet and scandalous creature.

My paintings are like a book written over time about past women. Modern women, women I have known or simply women who don’t exist. Each work is a piece of a mosaic of the female universe. Every tile has a profound reason for having been painted. It’s like a metronome that oscillates between dream and reality. I tell you about women, about women beyond time.’

Emma Loizides

Artist quote: ‘I love the freedom of being an artist, creating work is fun and also challenging, it brings me a lot of joy.’

Emma Loizides is a British cityscape painter based in London. She creates oil paintings of urban landscapes, candy hued street scenes and playful paintings of ice creams, palm trees and fast-food menus.

Travel is a resource for her work. Sketching and photographing road trips, recording moments of curiosity moving through a place, of being present. She is drawn to colourful sunsets, interesting architecture, and all things Americana.

Emma’s work is rich with texture, inspired by artists like Wayne Thiebauld, who creates a creamy consistency with paint. Her romanticised paintings feature quirky buildings and expansive skies with pops of pastel neon paint. The saturated cityscapes are about escapism, which offer the viewer a moment to contemplate, or daydream. A short break from the chaos of city life. They are also about fun and enjoyment, sharing the feeling of nostalgia of looking over a twinkling skyline. Painting an ice cream van or mixing that Florida pink that brings happy memories.

Her work has been shown at The Summer Exhibition at the Royal Academy of Arts and Christie’s Auction. She has sold work globally, and had work featured in the Hollywood Reporter.
