Autumn has arrived with its spectacular colours, capricious weather and the shivering leaves in the wind.

But autumn is not just a beautiful season to admire; it is also one of the most popular sources of inspiration for artists of all times. It is both a challenge and a joy for artists to capture the many shades of oranges, yellows, reds and browns in the leaves or the movement of the clouds in the blue sky. As such, they are never short of ideas for their next project about this season.

Autumn Fall by Michelle Carolan is inspired by the falling leaves and it captures beautifully the shades of reds specific to this season. The green and teal colours make a wonderful contrast with the warm autumnal colours.

Autumn Gust of Wind by Margaret Raven depicts a wild meadow in an autumnal setting, surrounded by yellow grass and distant clouds. Created in oil on canvas, the painting has lots of textures and character.

Heatherbell Barlow is a landscape artist who paints exclusively in oil and her artwork, Autumn Leaves, is an autumnal version of a previous painting capturing the same setting but during the spring. The colours are inviting, the whole painting is like a warm cuddle to keep you from the cold winter that awaits.
