STATIC LINES by Andrew Watt
STATIC LINES by Andrew Watt

You can’t get more modern than that: an original abstract painting created in mixed media on canvas titled “Static Lines”. In modern art, the artists take inspiration from anything, including modern technology and, why not, radio frequencies. Imagination has no limits and this is proven again and again in the art scene today.

As modern art is the wider umbrella, there is within a specialised genre that defines city life without being a cityscape: urban art. Even though urban art is seen as art that manifests itself on the city walls in the form of graffiti, the genre has filtered through to artwork dealing with urban contemporary subject matters created in more traditional media and techniques.

The horizontal lines in various colours – warm and cold for harmony and contrast – the vertical black lines and the colour combination gives the artwork a contemporary look and feel that makes you want to explore more.

By starting with a general idea I can develop and watch each painting evolve through the creation process, seeing how the mediums work together to produce unique effects and colour blends and washes. All my paintings are unique and original; by using different techniques and a number of different medium and compounds I produce paintings with a textured quality. My work is abstract in its origin and inspired from my original love of abstract art, which I had from an early age,” says the artist.
