Abi Whitlock

All artists have that one thing that no matter how hard they try, they can never paint it exactly right. There are many catalysts to various artists, but among the hardest things to paint across the board is realistic looking water. Realism is something Abi Whitlock is amazing at. Her paintings depict subjects submerged in water in various positions. This British artist has mastered the art of painting water like no other.

Abi Whitlock paints in a way that makes a viewer first believe they are looking at a photograph. The study of how water reflects the human form can be a hard one to grasp, but Abi has accomplished this beautifully. The complexities and hyper realistic nature of Abi Whitlock’s pieces have been featured in galleries and exhibits throughout the UK. Abi Whitlock is an artist ahead of her time and we wait with baited breath to see what is next for this gifted painter.

“Painting water really is like immersing yourself within a different world; bringing a sense of calm, stillness and inner peace.”

Beth Lever

Covid-19 brought with it a lot of sorrow, but for Beth Lever, it changed the course of her life. This artist had been teaching for 20 years when lockdowns forced her to remain home for a significant amount of time. It was during this time, Beth Lever began pursuing her own dreams instead of inspiring others. The hobby painter and teacher that went into lockdown, came out as a career painter with her own studio and a new perspective on life.

Beth Lever enjoys painting the British coastline and various scenes from nature. Her pieces embody emotion, light, and the use of incredibly accurate shadows along the water’s surface. Beth paints with emotion and the viewer can feel the emotion in each piece. It is almost like each brush stroke brings out how Beth Lever was feeling the moment she painted the piece. Few artists capture emotions in landscape and seascape art pieces, but this artist is amazing at it.

“The sky is a powerful magical natural beauty, it is free therapy for the heart, the mind and the soul, it is an honour to share my love of the sky through paint and colour and all the emotion it brings.”

Carmen Tyrrell

Love is truly in the air in all of Carmen Tyrrell’s paintings. Passion, devotion, and an intimate knowledge of the human form comes through in her stunning depictions of couples in a loving embrace. This mixed media artist enjoys painting the human form and showcasing how two bodies intertwine into one spirit while making love. The images are certainly not graphic or abrupt in any manner, but bold and inspiring. Carmen Tyrrell is a gifted and spirited artist that proves she is passionate about humans and their relationships to one another with every brush stroke.

Not only does she portray couples in her pieces, but the individuality of the naked female form. The female form has been the subject of many artists, but for Carmen Tyrrell, it is her expert use of the pallet knife that showcases every curve and line of a woman’s body so masterfully. The pieces have almost a tribal type feeling, but also hone to a life drawing style.

“What I like about being an artist is the creative process, a passionate journey where each step takes me to a new creative level and the end of it comes as a surprise.”

Dick Martin

Art is not just canvases placed on walls, but an embodiment of how we feel. For Dick Martin, art is all about the endless opportunity to create and recreate various forms. Whether it is human, alien, or something else, Dick Martin produces some of the most inspiring sculptures the modern art world has ever seen.

Dick Martin understands that sculptures and other forms of art should take place organically. He states that he doesn’t often know what the end result will look like when he begins sculpting a piece. This is something many artists can attest to as art is ever changing. His pieces are truly inspiring and showcase a distinct humourous mantra that is all his own. Dick Martin is an artist that showcases various movements and activities in his sculptures and sometimes the subject matter can be a little odd, but that is what makes his work so incredible.

“My work is always partly conceptual.  For me it is what the work represents, the creative thinking behind the image, which is of the greatest interest.”

This professional, full time artist works on an individual basis with various clients to create visual pieces that inspire the rest of the space. The use of various colours and tones help create the ambiance the room or a space requires. Although art can be used as a focal piece, and many of Kerry Bowler’s paintings are, it can also be used to bring the whole space into a cohesive spirit.

Paintings by Kerry Bowler are often not just a flat piece, but a layered depiction showcasing the masterful use of a pallet knife and various tools to provide emotion and depth to the painting. These details allow her bespoke pieces to stand out among the crowd. Kerry Bowler has had various exhibitions of her work, but her primary focus is on commissions from homeowners looking to showcase her work in their personal spaces.

Peter Williams

Artists often get into the flow of one specific art style. However, an artist like Peter Williams seems to excel at various art genres from landscapes, wildlife, watercolours, portraits, and much more. The minute you view a painting by Peter Williams, you can immediately appreciate the sheer talent and attention to detail from this incredibly gifted painter.

In each painting, Mr. Williams works diligently to bring out the emotion of the subject. Where this can be easy for most artists who paint people, it becomes much harder to portray animal emotions. Peter Williams seems to effortlessly draw us into the canvas. This artist did not follow the same traditional path as most, but honed his skills from childhood recreating paintings and drawings from photographs he saw in encyclopedias while growing up. Peter Williams is a natural talent the art world is privileged to enjoy.

“I’ve worked in dozens of professions during my life and art is the one that’s paid the least while giving the greatest reward, the one I’m best at but will never stop learning.”

Petr Johan Marek

Minimalistic depictions of abstract art are what sets Petr Johan Marek apart from similar artists. His work is reminiscent of Composition with Red Yellow and Blue by Piet Mondiran. The seemingly simple design of Petr Johan Marek’s pieces entice the viewer to look deep into the painting to discover the intricate nature of what it holds. These paintings require careful study and a look at what may lie beneath the surface.

This artist paints pieces that mimic the seasons in stunning colour, but not all his pieces are completely minimalistic. Petr Johan Marek dabbles in expressionism as well. The common theme in his artwork is a calm, serene environment. Mediums include both acrylic and oil and Mr. Marek also does not limit himself to simply canvas paintings, paintings on wood as well. Whether you are viewing one of his minimalistic works or more of an abstract piece, you will not be disappointed with the talent of Petr Johan Marek.

“When I look at art I need to connect, learn, and understand. If there is not a connection, it is not art for me.”

Wendy Hyde

A resounding theme in all of Wendy Hyde’s painting is the distinct use of black. Where her paintings are certainly not dark, in nature, the evidence of black makes other colours more vibrant. Wendy Hyde is an artist that harkens to the theory that, “A painting without black is like food without salt,” a quote from Elaine de Kooning. This notion allows for vivid colour on a deeper level, but the use of black is not the only common theme from Wendy Hyde.

Wendy Hyde invests her time painting landscapes in abstract form. Where she may begin with a subject, she allows the shape of the painting to become an organic form of its original self. This abstract view allows Wendy to allow the essence of the canvas and colours within to bring forth life. Each piece offers a unique play on vivid colours and light that suggests an image, but allows the viewer to see what they feel. Such emotion can be rare in this form of art and Wendy Hyde does it so impressively well.

“One unlaboured brushstroke made with feeling not knowing”
