Lyra Morgan

Artist Quote: ‘With every blank canvas, I feel like an explorer about to ‘travel’ and discover something magical; I let the work lead me where it wants to go. It is the almost ritualistic underlying processes which are the most important part of the journey’.

Lyra Morgan, creates large minimal abstract acrylic paintings that exude richness in colour. Inspired by her profound love for water, Lyra’s artistic creations possess the transformative power to infuse spaces with a sense of tranquillity and vitality. Her work revolves around capturing the essence of water’s ephemeral nature and its ability to manifest in various forms, whether it be the ethereal shape-shifting clouds or the flowing currents of a river. The representation of water through paint and process serves as a persistent theme in her art.

Lyra is deeply influenced by the Japanese concept of Wabi-Sabi, a philosophy that embraces the beauty of imperfection and transience. Her interpretation of Wabi-Sabi permeates her artistic practice, allowing her to explore and experiment with different materials and processes. Embracing the positive outcomes of serendipity, Lyra approaches her work with a sense of playfulness and openness, inviting unexpected elements to shape the final outcome of her creations.

The philosophy of living in the present moment and accepting “the flow,” which is inherent in many Japanese philosophies, has a profound impact on Lyra’s artistic expression. By immersing herself in these concepts, she allows her artwork to organically evolve, embracing the fluidity of the creative process and surrendering to the currents of inspiration.

Art has been an integral part of Lyra’s life from an early age. She fondly recalls moments from her childhood, such as drawing murals behind the back of the sofa and transforming her first bike into a whimsical representation of a Friesian cow. At the age of thirteen, with the encouragement of her mother Myra Morgan, Lyra painted her entire room, turning it into a serene lake with an island at its centre. These cherished memories and her mother’s unwavering support have played a significant role in shaping Lyra’s artistic journey. In tribute to her mother’s advocacy for her art and creative spirit, Lyra chose to work under the name Lyra Morgan.

Under the name Lyra Morgan, this talented artist has crafted a captivating collection of hands-on works that reflect her artistic vision and pay homage to the influential role her mother played in her life. Through her mesmerising abstract paintings, Lyra continues to explore the boundless possibilities of colour, texture, and form, inviting viewers to experience the serene yet energetic world she creates with each brushstroke.

Marc Todd

Artist quote: ‘In an increasingly tumultuous world, painting gives me as an artist an avenue of peaceful ‘creative escape’. It’s always my hope that my artistic endeavours bring my collectors a similar sense of contentment’.

Marc Todd is an artist who has made a name for himself through his vibrant and distinctive works in the realm of Contemporary Impressionism. Born and raised in the picturesque South West of England, Marc’s artistic journey took him to London, where he initially pursued a degree in fine art. However, upon graduating, he decided to take a different path and entered the world of advertising and brand communications as an Art Director. Throughout his career, he worked with renowned agencies such as Saatchi and Saatchi, Ogilvy & Mather, and J Walter Thompson, honing his creative skills and gaining valuable experience in visual communication.

In 2016, Marc returned to his roots and settled in a 17th Century Farmhouse in the picturesque Somerset Levels. It was here that he established his home and studio, immersing himself in the natural beauty and creative energy of the surroundings. The tranquillity and immediate access to nature provided Marc with the perfect backdrop for his artistic endeavours.

Marc’s artistic style can be defined as Contemporary Impressionism, characterised by his masterful use of colour, light, textures, and marks. He possesses a keen ability to create dynamic and engaging images that captivate viewers. His subjects primarily revolve around treescapes and cityscapes, seemingly disparate themes that Marc finds a deep connection between. He explains, “When you look really closely at a tree-scape, in reality, everything is moving. Leaves rustle, grass sways, birds fly past, bees buzz, and in this way, I see it in similar terms to the busiest of cities. I use the same techniques across both subjects – marks and strokes that are designed to communicate this sense of constant movement in the environment.”

Marc’s signature style is marked by a vivacious use of colour and a subtle application of texture. He has developed a range of modern techniques to apply paint, employing unique instruments such as sponges, plywood, and even Lego, with brushes rarely making an appearance. This unconventional approach allows Marc to capture the fast pace of city life and the natural movement of the forest, resulting in stunning original artworks that embody a sense of life and energy.

The artist’s distinctive works are popular worldwide, with paintings sold in various corners of the globe. Particularly strong sales have been seen in the UK, the USA, and the Far East. His ability to translate the essence of both bustling cityscapes and serene treescapes onto canvas demonstrates his versatility as an artist and his talent for capturing the beauty and movement of the world around us.

With his unique style, vibrant compositions, and masterful technique, Marc’s artwork invites viewers to see the world through his eyes – a world alive with colour, movement, and endless inspiration.

Daniel Loveday

Artists Quote: ‘I can’t seem to stop creating things, it’s satisfying to think that part of me might survive long after I’ve gone’

Daniel Loveday, a UK-based artist, considers himself not just an artist but also a storyteller. His works reflect his concerns for the environment and encompass surreal and symbolic elements. Alongside his exploration of these themes, Loveday also delves into experimentation with techniques, particularly through abstract forms.

Daniel embarked on his artistic journey by undergoing a two-year foundation level training, where he honed his skills in life drawing and printmaking. Subsequently, he pursued a degree at Exeter Art College, further expanding his artistic knowledge and abilities. Following his studies, Loveday ventured into the field of graphic design, where he delved into commercial art, illustrating a diverse range of subjects such as wildlife, steam trains, and cartoon characters.

However, it was during his time as a nursing auxiliary at The Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital that Loveday discovered a deep fascination with the journeys people experience. He encountered individuals grappling with dementia, as well as those facing the end of their lives with dignity. These encounters left a profound impact on Loveday, inspiring him to document and represent these stories through his art.

In March 2017, Loveday took the leap and became a full-time artist, dedicating himself entirely to his creative pursuits. With a strong belief in the power of art to communicate and address environmental and social issues, Loveday sees it as his mission to highlight these concerns through his paintings. He explores the paradox of the human race, capable of great understanding but also perpetuating widespread destruction. Through his work, he seeks to capture the beauty of self-realisation, understanding, and awareness, while also addressing the profound mysteries of life, the interplay of light and darkness, and the transformative power of love.

Daniel is versatile in his choice of mediums, utilising various tools such as oil, water-soluble crayons, acrylics, and working on canvas, board, and paper. This adaptability allows him to bring his artistic visions to life through different textures, colours, and forms.
