When we look at Diana Aungier-Rose’s gallery, her love of colours becomes instantly obvious. When we read her statement, we find out that she grew up in South Africa, this having a profound effect on her work; the sumptuous colours of the landscapes, the skies and the people of the country are reflected in the opulence and vibrancy of her paintings.

As she explains: “I find everyday life so crowded with irresistible images and impressions I feel almost overwhelmed, it is far more frustrating not attempting to paint all these images than going through the actual process of making images.”

Misty Valley View, our ‘Artwork of the Week’, is a vibrant painting, created in acrylic on canvas and depicting the Cotswold Hills. In the artist’s words: “On a few days in the year we can be in bright sunshine on the edge of the Cotswold Hills while down below the Severn Vale is shrouded in mist and fog. On a sunny November

In the artist’s words: “On a few days in the year we can be in bright sunshine on the edge of the Cotswold Hills while down below the Severn Vale is shrouded in mist and fog. On a sunny November day this was the view towards The Tynedale Monument on the escarpment above North Nibley.”

Just like most of her artworks, Misty Valley View is a celebration of light, texture and colour.
