Celebrated yearly on the first Saturday of July, National Meadow Day is a celebration of wildflowers intended to raise awareness of the importance of meadows and the conservation of this fast-disappearing habitat. With events all over UK, from open gardens and guided walks to art workshops and bug spotting, Meadow Day is an opportunity to learn about various wild plant species and the insects and bugs that inhabit them.
A Meadow Day could be an appropriate time for artists to get inspired and paint the colourful flowers that enchant our senses as well as a chance for collectors to bring the nature inside through a piece of art. At Art2Arts we have a wide collection of floral paintings from our talented artists, from modern and traditional paintings to impressionistic and abstract.
Here is a small selection to get you inspired, but if you want to see more, click on this link.
Chapel Meadow by Janice Rogers

If you haven’t seen Janice Rogers’ gallery yet, have a look at her gorgeous meadows depicting various flowers like foxgloves, buttercups and cornflowers. “Chapel Meadow” beautifully captures the British countryside with its wild flora. Created in acrylic on canvas board the piece has a resin finish for a glossy modern look.
Indigo Meadow by Kaye Lake

With this artwork, Kaye Lake offers a modern take on a traditional theme and her meadow is painted against a dark indigo background resulting in a piece of artwork that could be the perfect addition to a modern interior. Although the flowers are depicted in a semi-abstract way, you can spot cow parsley, dandelions, poppies and daisies.
Poppy Joy by Alexandra Lavizzari

We can’t have a meadow showcase without poppies and this photograph by Alexandra Lavizzari shows how perfect nature is and how skilful the artist is in capturing it. Red poppies against a green background is such a classic combination that we can picture this artwork in any kind of interior, traditional or modern.
Pollination by Shaun Keefe

This abstract artwork by our popular artist Shaun Keefe titled “Pollination” goes so well with the meadow theme that we wanted to show a different perspective: the pollen grains captured in various colours using the layering technique. The result is spectacular.
On a Clear Day by Colette Baumback

This pretty landscape by Colette Baumback captured what British wild landscape is all about: foxgloves, buttercups and grasses against a fresh green background. Created with a palette knife, the painting is textured and detailed and it is the perfect piece to bring the outside in.
We hope you liked our showcase and let us know what you did or plan to do to celebrate the National Meadow Day?
