Sunsets are spectacular, displaying a wide range of colours, from pink and orange to turquoise and purple.

Whether the sun is in the clouds or not, every sunset is different and a never ending source of inspiration for artists.

From Impression, Sunrise by Claude Monet to today’s artworks created in an impressionistic, traditional or abstract style, there is a wide variety of styles and mediums that we can admire in galleries, exhibitions and on-line today.

“I am moved by the sky and sea and am trying to capture the feelings one can experience from being in a wild and dramatic landscape or watching the sunset into the sea”, says Julia Everett, one of the most prolific sunset scenes artist from our gallery.

Sunset images allow artists to paint both en plein air and from memory, being preoccupied either with capturing the colours and atmosphere they see or their emotional response to what they felt in a particular moment in time.

As for collectors, a sunset painting is beautiful, capturing both the nature’s glory and the painter’s artistry. They can be hung as part of a collection or as a centrepiece in any room to embellish one’s home with art.
