We live on an island and seascapes are amongst the most popular choices for artists of all times to paint, but so are other water related subjects such as sunset on the sea, sea storms and boats.

The latter has a long tradition in British art, from traditional art and Turner to the most modernistic approaches in the arts today.

A boat on the water is a strong image symbolizing man conquering the sea, but it can also suggest freedom, the grandeur of nature and the unknown but exciting destination beyond the horizon.

A boat on the sea could also mean a place where man meets nature, trying to understand it and making it his ally.

A boat painting in any style, be that traditional or contemporary, is not just for your holiday home or nautical style interior, it could also look great as a centre piece in any room.

It can remind you of a favourite place where you’ve spent a nice family holiday or even honey moon, or a hobby if you like sailing, for example, or it could simply be a calming image that you enjoy looking at.

Water, beach and boats are great sources of inspiration for British artists offering the viewer their own interpretation of the subject in their own unique style.
