What do you do if you have a sudden impulse to visit new places? Do you book a bus or a plane ticket? Do you take your car and drive there? Do you look at photos? Do you read a travel magazine?

All these choices are perfectly valid but for an artist, however, there is another option: painting.

Tuscany Villages by Maureen Greenwood captures perfectly the Mediterranean sun and the colourful Italian landscape.

What strikes you when you first look at the painting are the textures and the vivid colours both giving you a ‘live’ experience, as if you were there.

Talking about her inspiration and technique, Maureen Greenwood says: “ My travels in Europe inspire me with ideas for new paintings, particularly the amazing light you get in the Mediterranean countries I love colour and working in mixed media using different textures to create exciting effects.

Tuscany Villages is certainly exciting with its fantastic choice of colours, from vivid greens, reds and oranges to intense blues for the sky. Created din acrylic on canvas, the artwork offers the perfect alternative to travelling: contemplating and taking it all in. Enjoy!
