Ley Lines by Angela Dierks
Ley Lines by Angela Dierks

There is something about Angela Dierk’s artwork that makes you look at it again and again while discovering new lines and textures that separate the planes and the colours. Although it is an abstract painting, you know that you are looking at a landscape; or, more appropriately, at the artist’s impression of a landscape. “The painting was inspired by the idea of tracks in the earth corresponding to a meaning beyond their physicality”, says the artist.

The warm and cold colours that complement each other, the horizontal lines and the rhythm, make it a balanced composition, enjoyable to look at and these are the right ingredients for an accomplished abstract artwork, from both an aesthetical and from a conceptual point of view.

When talking about what inspires her, Angela Dierks says: “I am curious by nature, always ready to further explore new ideas and impressions. Much of my earlier range of work is concerned with memories and dreams peeling away at them layer by layer. In the last two years I started to work more on abstract representations of landscapes finding inspiration in the beauty of the outside world: gentle landscapes in the UK, the Arctic Circle, the warm and fiery tones of Mediterranean countryside, dramatic skyscapes and the movement of the sea.
