GOLDEN HORIZON by Andrew Watt
GOLDEN HORIZON by Andrew Watt

Inspired by abstract artists such as Mark Rothko, Jackson Pollock, Willem de Kooning, Jake Attree and Gerhard Richter, Andrew Watt is one of the most popular artists at Art2Arts.

His abstract art is unique and it is created using layers of colours and textures using different media to construct coherent and lively images.

What strikes you when you first look at Golden Horizon, our artwork of the week, is the texture in the middle that separates the two planes of the painting: the red warm sky and the blue cold waters. The contrast between the two is well executed and the colours are pure and vivid.

The eyes are drawn towards the image, which invites you to explore the artist’s technique beyond his use of colours. The joy of creation is revealed not just through Andrew’s artworks but through his words too.

“Art is a bit of an addiction to me; by using different experimental techniques, and by starting with a general idea I can develop and watch each painting evolve through the creation process, seeing how the mediums work together to produce unique effects and colour blends and washes”, says the artist.
