“Abstract art frees me to create a work of art without the constraints of perspective and accuracy needed in other genres. Painting is now fun and if the result is interesting and pleasing to the eye, I am satisfied”. This is how Paul Chambers talks about his interest in abstract art and his paintings are indeed pleasing to the eye.
Artwork 1512 “Storytellers Night” is an abstract – impressionistic painting created in mixed media on canvas and it captures a sunset over a city in warm hues of orange, red and gold.
The silhouettes of the buildings are depicted in darker colours so they stand out, while the eyes are drawn to the golden sun that spreads its warm colour over the skies.
Although abstract, we can still decipher that the artwork is a cityscape and the reflections of the buildings are an indication that the city could be somewhere by the sea.
When we read the title, a question arises: who are the storytellers? And this is where our imagination comes to life. Are they the people enjoying dinner with their families while talking about their day?
Or, perhaps, there’s a theatre festival happening and actors all over the city are telling stories at every street corner? Now it’s your turn, feel free to add your own version and share it with us in the comment box.
