Lada Stukan
Artist Statement: “For me being a Painter is not a job; it is a way of existing and by painting to share the freedom to express my perception of the world”.
My name is Lada Stukan and I was born on 17/05/1971 in Simferopoli (Crimea). From a young age I have always drawn and painted. Art has always been inside me, inspiring me to create my perception of the world and growing up. Painting was always my greatest joy, my keenest interest and gave me strength in difficult moments.
I studied arts for five years at Simeferopoli High School, then four years at the “M.S. Samokish School of Arts. In 1992, I graduated as a ‘Decorative Arts Designer’.
In the following years I worked as a teacher of arts at high schools. I was also an illustrator of books and magazines, a designer of theatrical sets. For seven years, a designer of interiors for hotels and shopping centres. Here I used a unique original technique of mosaic collage of carpet pieces.
In 2009 I moved to Italy where I now live and work, since 2020 painting full-time. The main subject of my artworks is nature in all its diversity, from a single flower to large landscapes.
For most of my paintings I use the oil on canvas technique. However, I am curious and I like to experiment with other existing or new techniques, mediums and materials.
I have participated in several events and exhibitions in Ukraine. Some of my paintings are in private collections in the UE, USA and Canada.

Nikki Wheeler
Artist’s statement: My work is inspired by nature and the seasons, I am constantly fascinated by the effects of light on the mood and atmosphere of the landscape and I try to convey the feelings and emotions of the moment.
I live on the Kent coast and am a self-taught artist. Having always loved painting since childhood, I have been represented by several galleries and exhibited widely both in the UK and abroad. My designs have sold internationally as greetings cards, wrapping paper, stationery and mugs. My work has been published as fine art prints and sold in numerous galleries.
I work in acrylics, mix media and oils and aim to paint every day. If I go too long without painting, I get very angsty. Painting is like my best friend and I am lost without it.
In my work I try to create an emotional response to nature and very often it’s a fleeting moment of light that inspires me. I am lucky enough to live by the sea and also be surrounded by beautiful countryside. Also, I am incredibly touched by nature and I love the different seasons and the varying moods they create. I walk every day and make sketches and am continually amazed at how every day the light is different, creating a different mood.

Zoe Elizabeth Norman
Artist Statement: ‘I love the feeling of peace and joy that envelops me when I am painting and in the creative zone’.
I started painting seriously in my early twenties. Encouraged by a string of commissions from work colleagues and friends I started to exhibit paintings in local and National Art Exhibitions. My artwork caught the eye of a renowned publishing house, which set me off on a successful illustration career.
Over the next twenty years I produced floral and wildlife watercolours for greetings cards and stationery. I worked with many leading publishers, including the Medici Society, UK Greetings, Woodmansterne Publications, and Nigel Quiney Publications.
I am now represented by Green Pebble Cards who specialise in fine art by UK artists. They allow me the freedom to paint what I like in my own way. This has allowed me to move forward with my artistic practice and my style has changed accordingly.
I studied botanical illustration with The Society of Botanical Artists and gained a Diploma with Distinction in 2007.
I have had three major one woman exhibitions. On Feb 20th 2020 I was honoured with first prize for ‘The Future’s In Our Hands’ art competition entitled ‘Portraits from the Precipice’.
In recent years I have switched from watercolours to oil paints. My style has moved towards more impressionistic figurative and landscape works. I enjoy the application of loose brush strokes and now find oil paints suit my way of working more than watercolours.
Painting is part of my daily routine and for me it helps keep me happy and grounded. Other people have meditation, mindfulness or the gym but for me painting is my therapy. I feel blessed that I can make a living from what I enjoy most.

Louise Southan
Artist statement: ‘Art can take you to anywhere at any time in any context you choose. What could be better than that?’
I was born in Bridgnorth Shropshire and was brought up in Staffordshire on a farm. So my first artwork was influenced by my love of nature and the changing seasons. Though I am still very much inspired by nature, I also love painting street scenes, still life, interiors, figures and vehicles.
I made the finals of the Laing Art competition in 1992 and sold my work in the Mall Galleries London. I then was able to take commissions, work on murals and develop greetings card designs, whilst making sales in various galleries. As well at this, I also taught drawing and painting at Stafford college for 17 years. I still teach, but now hope to devote more time to my own painting.

Steven Tranter
Artist’s statement: ‘Relaxation, creativity, and madness of art is what I enjoy’.
I am a self-taught artist, who lives and works in Northampton. Working with several mediums, including, watercolours and oils, though my favourite is definitely oils.
I paint all manner of subjects, including, wild animals, landscapes, your pets, to name just a few. It’s very important to me to try to capture the mood and personality of the subject I’m trying to paint. I do enjoy painting where the light influences the mood, the colours and the shadows.
All my paintings are fitted with dust trap paper on the back. This helps protect the back from dust build up. They are all fitted with hanging cord, or for the larger paintings, sawtooth brackets.
