Friends 26 by Veronica Vilsan

Where did the inspiration come from for this piece?

For this particular series of “Friends”, I think the main inspiration comes from my morning meditations. Creating art, however, is another way to access a meditative state of mind. It is the way I imagine our “friends”, living in this Universe and beyond.

What is the creative process when creating your abstract paintings?

Abstract art is not representational but explores colours and forms. It isn’t about making perfect copies of real life, but it is about artists drawing how they feel. The creative process is defined as a succession of thoughts and actions. I work with different mediums in my paintings and I like to try new ideas and techniques every day.

I start my everyday process of creating with the words: “Let’s have some fun today and play with colours”. I am always trying to create something beautiful, something that you can live with long term and be calmed or stimulated by, something that you can look at repeatedly and discover new things within.

How long would this work have taken you?

For this piece, I worked about 6 hours. I usually don’t eat and don’t take breaks before I finish a painting, of course, depending on the painting I create.
