Anemone by Mariana Oros
Spring is here and what better way to celebrate it than with floral artwork. “Anemone” by Mariana Oros caught our eyes and we talked with the artist about the inspiration and creative process:

Where did the inspiration come from for this piece?

What can I say? The inspiration comes naturally to me, I am not looking for a particular source. I work from my own imagination and I feel a great joy to paint freely.

What is the creative process when creating your vibrant colourful art?

For me, painting is a free creative process, I don’t really make any plans about a specific work. I simply chose my colours which depends on the subject I want to paint and my creative state at that moment in time. In creating this artwork, I started by applying a background using a modern pouring technique and while doing this, I already knew what I wanted to paint as if the canvas was whispering to me. I live and breathe through my work and it’s like the painting is giving something back to me, too.
After building the layer, it’s time to think from a chromatic point of view so I simply add volume and highlights to the flowers and for this particular artwork, I wanted to choose colours to give the viewer the sense of scent. To me, flowers are delicate, especially Anemones and I wanted to capture this on canvas.
To me painting a new artwork is like starting an adventure that I don’t know what is going to happen next nor how will end. Thet’s why the creative process is a spontaneous one, offering my emotion on the canvas until the very last brushstroke.

How long would this work have taken you?

The time spent to create an artwork depends on many factors: inspiration, work ethic, time spent in front of the work. I have many ideas and time is very precious so I try not to spend much time in front of the same painting. To complete an artwork like ‘Anemone’ takes me, on average, up to a week and sometimes more, depending on the complexity of flowers I paint.
